Every computer, speaker and keyboard adds its own small delay (Bluetooth speakers and headphones add a lot). The timing check measures it by having you tap along to a click, then sets the adjustment for you.

For teachers

What students practise

Students read the rhythm on screen and tap each note to make the frog hop. Each hop lasts as long as the note, so they have to hold the longer notes, and on a rest the turtle carries them. The eight worlds go from ta and ti-ti up to tam-ti and tim-ka, in 2/4, 3/4 or 4/4.

Using it in class

Run the timing check in Settings before students start, especially with Bluetooth speakers or headphones. Space, J, F or tapping the screen all work, so it's fine on laptops or tablets.
