A new suspect has joined the line-up: vi, the tonic's minor double. Chords in this case file can be played in root position or in an inversion — the same three notes, but a different one on the bottom each time. A steady bass note holds down the true root underneath, so listen for the chord's colour, not just whichever note ends up on the bottom of the triad.
