What students practise

Students hear chords and name them as I, IV or V, all in root position. It starts with telling two chords apart, builds to four-chord progressions, then finishes with a timed final case.

Using it in class

Sing the bass notes (do, fa, so) first so students have something to hang on to. It fits alongside any unit that uses I, IV and V, like the 12-bar blues.
